Golden Hill-   A San Diego Police officer shot and killed a man who pointed a gun at him.  The incident occurred about 10:30pm on Friday night near 25th and A Streets.

According to a press release, police officers were dispatched to the report of an armed robbery a market in the 1100 block of 25th street.  As the officers established a perimeter, a witness pointed out a man who was walking north on 25th street.  One officer exited his patrol car and approached the suspect, ordering him to stop.  The suspect continued to walk away.  At this point the release states the officer was fifteen feet away from the suspect when he abruptly turned around and pointed a handgun at the officer and the officer fired, striking the suspect.  The suspect is reportedly a twenty-three year old male who died at the hospital several hours later.  Homicide detectives were on scene investigating the shooting.
