Lemon Grove -  San Diego Sheriff deputies manning a roadside DUI checkpoint on Broadway  in Lemon Grove report almost being run over by a man refusing to stop for the checkpoint.  Deputies fell in behind the vehicle and tried to stop the driver who took off.  The driver lead sheriff and later San Diego Police on a chase through Southeast San Diego, North Park, Kearny Mesa and Tierrasanta.  Sheriff deputies used a PIT maneuver to disable the vehicle on Shield Street where the driver took off on foot jumping from yard to yard.  A police helicopter and K-9 units tracked the driver to Snook Street.  A police K-9 found the suspect and he was taken into custody with minor bite wounds and turned over to deputies after treatment for his wounds.  Only a few minutes after this incident ended, another motorist did the same thing at the checkpoint, almost running down a deputy.  Several deputies opened fire and a chase ensued coming to an end on Hilltop Street in San Diego where he was taken into custody.  Several bullet holes and a broken window were found on that vehicle and the occupant was not struck.
