Palm City- An early morning vehicle accident claimed the life of two men and sent three others to local hospitals. The crash occurred on south I-805 at the 905 when a vehicle carrying five people lost control and crashed into a tree. According to CHP Sgt. Thomas Stromer the vehicle was part of a three vehicle precession that had left a bar in Bonita after celebrating some of the group's discharge from the Marine Corps. As they approached the 905 ramps, the vehicle suddenly veered as if to take the 905 and the vehicle slid out of control to the right shoulder, struck a light standard and then a tree. The other vehicle's occupants pulled the three people in the rear seats out of the wreckage but were unable to rescue the two men in the front seat who were pinned. The car then caught fire and both men perished. The three rear seat passengers were transported to local hospitals with serious injuries.
