University City- Two people were critically injured when
the vehicle they were in crashed into a bus stopped on the side of the freeway
just prior to midnight on New Year's Eve. According to CHP Sgt Rich Berg a
bus slowed down to pickup passengers from a disabled bus alongside I-805 near
Governor Drive. The driver of the bus activated his four-way flashers as
he exited the travel lane. As the bus pulled onto the shoulder, a Toyota
Scion that was occupied by two people in their twenties slammed into the rear of
the bus. Both suffered major injuries and were transported to local
hospitals.
A third bus arrived to take the passengers onto their destinations. CHP said it was too early to determine is alcohol was involved in the crash.
